Consumer Rights & Food Safety Legal Support

Applying Commercial Litigation Experience to Protect Consumers

For more than two decades, Bayne Law has represented businesses in complex disputes across industries and borders. That same rigor and strategic insight now extends to consumers who have been misled, overcharged, or exposed to unsafe products.

We recognize that food and product safety is not only a regulatory matter — it is a matter of public trust. When companies know of risks and fail to disclose them, or market products as “safe” and “natural” while containing harmful chemicals, consumers have legal rights.

Our Consumer Rights & Food Safety Class Action practice is built on our established strengths in commercial law, product labeling, and regulatory compliance — allowing us to bring a precise, intellectual approach to claims that affect families nationwide.

At BayneLaw, we’ve spent decades helping businesses navigate complex regulations, federal compliance frameworks, and global trade laws. Our background in FDA, USDA, and product labeling compliance provides a unique foundation for representing consumers harmed by dangerous additives, undisclosed contaminants, and misleading product claims.

Our Firm’s Consumer Rights and Food Safety Law group remains a focused, research-driven practice driven to hold companies accountable when they knew or should have known that their products posed risks.

Our Consumer Rights Practice Focused on Food Safety and Labeling Transparency

Our consumer-rights practice centers on educating the public, protecting consumers, and seeking accountability when products violate federal or state safety standards.

Current Consumer Safety Issues Under Investigation

1. Heavy Metals in Baby Food

Congressional reports and litigation have revealed elevated levels of arsenic and lead in popular baby food brands.

2. Lead-Contaminated Cinnamon Applesauce Pouches

The FDA recalled products sold nationwide after finding dangerous lead levels — particularly concerning for children.

3. Red Dye No. 3 and BVO Bans

In 2025, the FDA revoked approval for Red Dye No. 3 and Brominated Vegetable Oil, citing cancer and safety risks.

4. PFAS in Food Packaging

“Forever chemicals” found in wrappers, takeout containers, and packaging linked to cancer and reproductive harm.

Each of these issues raises questions of what companies knew or should have known, and whether consumers were misled or exposed to unacceptable risks.

Our Approach

Bayne Law approaches accountability actions with the same intellectual discipline applied in commercial litigation:

  1. Focused Case Selection – Pursuing claims with documented regulatory findings, recalls, or internal corporate knowledge.
  2. Strategic Alliances – Partnering with experienced class-action teams when appropriate, to combine resources without undue risk.
  3. Measured Advocacy – Avoiding speculative filings; concentrating on well-supported actions that advance both consumer rights and the integrity of the food system.

Education and Advocacy

Consumers who purchased recalled or mislabeled food products, may have legal claims for:

  1. Economic loss – Paying more than a product was worth because of misleading safety claims.
  2. Restitution – Recovering the cost of unsafe or recalled products.
  3. Injunctive relief – Court orders requiring companies to correct labels, reformulate products, or halt misleading marketing.
